How do you hit pictures in NBA2K21?

Stick when grab and shoot or post disappear. Button from anywhere in close. Works for me but it took a little practice. Isn't it harder to select your layup if you use button? I've always fought with these controls and used stick for layups. I swear I feel as if I have wasted $149 (Aussie dollars). I'd really like to be shooting at 40% but I am blessed if I can hit 20%. I only play offline. I understand we have scrub players right now, and I am a below average player but seriously even layups which are in the center of the meter aren't going in. I don't even dare to try out a jump shooter. The AI appears to be ridiculous levels too. I know they want to reward skill in 2k21 but this type of NBA 2K21 MT material is going to truly put off casual gamers and those new the 2K franchise and also new to basketball matches.

I've been enjoying since 2K13 but I have never been that good of a player. I'd say I'm average, but I know I shouldn't be missing all of these 3s. My starter players've never played this bad at 2k16,17,18,19 and 20. The only other 2K I played before 2K20 was 2K13 and which was on PC. But this is a whole new level with a very different mechanic. I did ok in the demonstration and in the quickgames with the brand new shooting meter but can't hit the side of a barn here.

Only played the demo, but the stick was much more reliable than button for me. I've been a button guy also. I have a 75 3 pointer, I think I greened one shooter in like 5 nba games. . Mostly wide open shots... and this was on allstar not even thinking to go in the rec center. . Genuinely shooting 2/16 within an offline triple threat game on just layups and 1 open jumpshot that airballed on marginally early. Spent $100 with this bullshit lmao. Man the shooting is extra nice right now but that I would advise shot time like appearance for the que on the animation.

Yep I am having trouble with it as well. Started a match on Buy NBA 2K21 MT Coins My group heading 0/12 overlooking open 3s and midsize shots all around the place. I am all for them toning shots being almost automatic but the system seems a little bit too unforgiving so far. Hopefully will start to get better after a couple more matches of becoming used to it. The game came out and we gotta new meter using slightly different timing.
